My goal for this summer is to go to all the flea markets, farmers' markets, estate sales, and garage sales that I can and take a million pictures. I used to go to a farmers market in Hinsdale, Illinois with my grandmother when I was small, but I havent really been to one since- So, I am excited about my new summer adventure.
My friend and I hit up a little market that runs on Esplanade on Sundays from 9-1. It was small and cute- most of the booths were pre-made foods: jams, juices, pies and other desserts- and let's face it, I prefer to be surrounded by sugary goodness as often as possible.
I stopped at Tamales Especiales for one of my favorite beverages: watermelon juice!!
Sooooo refreshing on a hot day!
This tamale has cinnamon mixed in the masa and is stuffed with mangoes. Yum!!
This is a doughnut by Glazed and Confuzed. This is the most amazing doughnut I've ever had. I am not a big doughnut fan, but I seriously can't wait until I run into this stand again. I totally didn't write down the flavor combo- it was salted caramel- chocolate ganache- some other amazing flavory goodness.
Just a random shot of my husband's favorite store, which is located across the street from the market.
Tree art.
More trees!!
When I go to antique malls and stores, I have to stick to some strict rules. Otherwise, I would spend all the money I have to my name on vintage suitcases and lamps. My first rule is STICK ONLY TO THE LIST. I have to know what I'm looking for before I go. Over time, I have acquired a long list, which makes antiquing fun, but being new to the farmer's market scene, I didn't really know what to look for. So, for this first time, I just had two things on my list: a yummy beverage and a bouquet of fresh flowers. These are from Sunflower Bouquets, who offer custom flower arrangements and free delivery in Denver. They don't have a website, but here's their email if you're looking for fresh, pretty flower arrangements.
What summer adventures are you planning??
